DS has not taken seroquel in months because of the way it makes him feel.  We are to start abilify now to see how he does with that.  We have 5mg tablets with instructions to take 1/2 to 1 tablet...

Honestly I can't remember!! I think E took it at one point but not sure why we stopped it.

Re: Abilify

I don't think E ever tried that one. Sorry, I'm no help.

Re: Abilify

I believe that Lilah started with 2 mgms., but she was much younger (and smaller) than Matthew.  How much good do the meds do him if he doesn't take them regularly, though?

Re: Abilify

Both my kids take Abilify. Matthew is exceptionally sensitive and takes 3 mg. Alex was recently increased to 15mg. I am curious why he was told to take it at night. The product monograph says to take...

Re: Abilify

Kristin, DS will take it along with his other meds, which he takes usually in the evening or night; occasionally in late afternoon. Mostly this is because he sleeps most of the morning and gets up...

Re: Abilify

He has missed a few days here and there, but mostly continues to takes them without being reminded (most of the time). We continue to fill the weekly container and leave that day's compartment open.

Re: Abilify

So, since I posted, N has stopped taking his meds. He seems to sleep better, I really didn't notice the cycling, but DH has. Of course, DH & N live together so, of course, he would see it. At...

Re: Abilify

Interesting about the sleep issues. Maybe some sort of change was in order, but I'm guessing this is not what you would have wished for. I'm glad you are a bit removed for now.

I'm glad N is sleeping better. We all know that makes such a difference in anyone. But sorry to hear he has stopped altogether.

Re: Abilify

We just saw the doctor last week. He mentioned that ds could take extra abilify when he knows he is heading toward an "episode". DS asked if he could increase it regularly, so now he is to take 10mg...

It's great that Matthew is aware and willing to take charge of his condition!

Re: Abilify

Increasing the dosage of Abilify when an "episode" seems to be coming is also what my grandson's therapist did with him. I feel it's neat that this med has that kind of flexibility.
